Artist Residency: Richard Walters at the Spinnaker Tower
What does the breath-taking view from the top of Spinnaker Tower stir in you? Wonder? Calm? Nostalgia? Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Richard Walters wants to capture those emotions…and turn them into music.
As part of the Solent Seascape Artist Residency, Richard will be at the Tower on Saturday 2 August, inviting visitors to share their thoughts and feelings as they take in the sweeping views of the Solent. These spontaneous conversations will be recorded and later woven into a unique musical project: Songs from the Solent, a new EP blending personal stories, natural beauty, and original song writing.
This residency is more than a creative project, it’s a call to connect. Through music, Songs from the Solent aims to raise awareness of the environmental challenges facing the region while building a deeper, emotional bond between people and place. Once released, the EP will be available via all major streaming platforms, accompanied by aninteractive music map, letting listeners experience each track where it was inspired.
